ICEHOGS ANNOUNCE 2011-12 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE

Photo by Greg Hamil Hogs open the season on Oct. 8 against Grand Rapids Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced the team’s 2011-12 regular season schedule. The IceHogs 13th season of professional hockey in Rockford and fifth as the top affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks will begin on Saturday, Oct. 8 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:05 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Rockford’s new schedule features 38 home games and 38 away contests while the team plays in the AHL’s Midwest Division. Of the 38 home tilts, 28 of them fall on the weekend, including 10 Friday, 14 Saturday and four Sunday games.  The only Monday home game falls on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 16), while the IceHogs will also play three Tuesday contests and six Wednesday games at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The 2011-12 regular season will conclude on Saturday, April 14 at the BMO Harris Bank Center against the Charlotte Checkers, wrapping up a three-game homestand. Rockford’s longest homestand is five games from Wednesday, Nov. 23 to Saturday, Dec. 3.  The team will spend 15 days away from home on their longest road swing from Saturday, Dec. 31 through Saturday, Jan. 14, a stretch of seven games. The club’s busiest month on home ice is in December when the IceHogs will host eight games. December contains 14 total games, the most in a single month for Rockford in the upcoming season. January features nine road games, most of any month on the 2011-12 slate. Game times for home contests this season are set for 7:05 p.m. with the exception of Monday, Jan. 16 (1:05 p.m.) and Sunday home games (5:05 p.m.) Individual game tickets will go on-sale on Thursday Sept. 8 at noon. 2011-12 AHL REGULAR-SEASON SCHEDULE TO BE RELEASED THURSDAY

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-Pending its approval by the Board of Governors, the American Hockey League’s 2011-12 regular-season schedule will be released on Thursday, August 18, at 4:00 p.m. ET.

The schedule will be available for viewing and download on the official Web site of the American Hockey League, theahl.com.

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 87 percent of today’s NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the 10th year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2010-11.

Hogs to play three exhibition games in 2011

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the American Hockey League and primary affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks announced their 2011 preseason schedule on Monday.

The exhibition slate will feature three contests, including two at the Rockford MetroCentre and one on the road. Rockford’s first preseason game is set for Wednesday, Sept. 28 against the Chicago Wolves at 7:05 p.m. at the MetroCentre.

After a trip to Milwaukee to face off against the Admirals at the Kern Center on the campus of Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., the IceHogs will complete their preseason schedule at home on Saturday, Oct. 1 against the Peoria Rivermen at 7:05 p.m.

RiverHawks to host IceHogs Night

Rockford, Ill.- The American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs, in conjunction with the Rockford RiverHawks of the Frontier Professional Baseball League, announced on Wednesday that the RiverHawks are hosting an IceHogs Night on Thursday, Aug. 18 at Road Ranger Stadium in Loves Park.

IceHogs full season and 20-pack ticket holders can get up to four free tickets to the RiverHawks game on Aug. 18 against the Windy City ThunderBolts beginning at 7:05 p.m. Tickets need to be reserved by calling your season ticket representative or by calling (815) 847-6399 by 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15.

Hammy will also be making an appearance at the game while new head coach Ted Dent will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game.
